Savers Value Village, Inc. (NYSE: SVV), (the “Company”), the largest for-profit thrift operator in the U.S. and Canada for value priced, pre-owned clothing, accessories, and housewares, today announced the launch of ThriftIQ™, a proprietary platform that helps optimize the millions of pricing decisions made each week across one of retail’s most diverse assortments.
Every year, Savers Value Village processes more than one billion pounds of reusable goods, providing the Company with unparalleled insight into the complexities of evaluating and pricing unique secondhand items. Developed in partnership with Kaizen Analytix, a leading data science and technology consulting firm, ThriftIQ™ modernizes this process by reducing manual inputs and bringing more consistency and precision to pricing decisions across the Company’s men’s and women’s apparel assortment. The result is greater value for customers, stronger sell-through, and improved operational efficiency throughout the Company’s growing store network.
“At Savers Value Village, our goal is simple: to help customers discover great finds at compelling value,” said Mark Walsh, Chief Executive Officer. “ThriftIQ reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing the thrift experience. By pairing decades of secondhand expertise with innovative technology, we’re building on what shoppers love most about thrifting – finding everyday essentials, unexpected treasures, and exceptional deals with every visit. It’s a powerful example of how we are using innovation to strengthen what makes thrift shopping special while supporting long-term growth across our business.”
Proven Results in Pilot Markets
ThriftIQ™ has been deployed in 58 pilot stores, helping to price more than 25 million men’s and women’s apparel items across 45,000 retail brands, powered by one of the largest proprietary datasets on secondhand consumer goods in North America. Pilot results indicate a positive customer response and demonstrate the platform’s ability to deliver measurable operational and business benefits at scale while supporting the core elements of the Savers Value Village thrift experience.
- Enhanced Customer Experience – More consistent and predictable pricing helps customers shop a broad assortment with confidence while preserving the excitement of discovering unique finds.
- Compelling Value Proposition – Average prices remained the same or lower than the rest of the fleet and continued to average 40–70% below traditional retail.
- Improved Business Performance – Stores using the platform delivered meaningful gains across key metrics, including higher unit sell-through, larger basket sizes, and stronger sales yields.
- Foundation for Scale – The platform establishes a repeatable approach that can be expanded across a growing store network and diverse merchandise assortment.
“No other retail environment operates quite like thrift,” said Bobby Falconer, Associate Partner, Kaizen Analytix. “Managing a constantly changing assortment of unique items is one of retail’s most complex challenges. Savers Value Village has built and refined one of the richest datasets in secondhand retail, and ThriftIQ transforms that data into actionable insights. We’re helping translate scale and complexity into pricing that is more precise with a new level of rigor, equipping store teams with the information they need to make smarter, more effective decisions.”
ThriftIQ™ represents the latest milestone in the Company’s broader operational transformation strategy, which includes centralized processing centers, automated book processing, enhanced point-of-sale systems, self-checkout kiosks, and AI-enabled facility management technologies. The Company plans to continue to deploy the platform across its U.S. and Canadian locations through early 2028.
