BOSTON — August 5, 2026 — ON July 17, 2026 ，Meijiao Yan, an internationally educated soprano, was invited to attend the press conference for the 16th Boston Asian American Day Festival at the Massachusetts State House. Following the conclusion of the press conference, the Board of Directors of the Asian American Association of Boston (AAAB) officially approved her appointment as Special Artistic Advisor to the 16th Boston Asian American Day Festival. In this role, she will contribute to artistic programming, provide professional artistic guidance, support the selection of invited artists, and promote arts education and international cultural exchange, helping advance the Festival’s mission of fostering multicultural understanding, community engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration through the performing arts.
Meijiao Yan’s relationship with the Festival began in 2025. On August 17, 2025, she received the Gold Award at the Boston International Chinese Song Contest (BISCS), held at Cary Memorial Hall in Lexington, Massachusetts. The recognition led to her subsequent invitation to perform at the Festival and marked the beginning of her ongoing collaboration with the organization.
In September 2025, Meijiao Yan was invited to appear as a featured soprano at the 15th Boston Asian American Day Festival, where she began an ongoing collaboration with the organization through performances, community arts programs, charitable events, and international cultural exchange initiatives. Her continued participation in Festival programs and long-term support for its cultural initiatives ultimately led to her appointment as Special Artistic Advisor for the Festival’s 16th edition.
“Music is a universal language that transcends cultures and languages. Every performance is an opportunity to foster understanding, build friendships, and encourage dialogue through the arts,” said Meijiao Yan.
Meijiao Yan received her early professional music education in China before earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from the Lviv National Music Academy in Ukraine. Throughout her career, she has performed in opera productions, solo recitals, concert performances, and international cultural exchange programs in China, Ukraine, and the United States. Her repertoire includes opera, Western classical vocal works, and Chinese vocal music, reflecting an artistic career shaped by international education and cross-cultural experience.
Beyond the concert stage, Meijiao Yan remains actively involved in arts education, community engagement, and cultural outreach. Through concerts, public performances, and collaborative cultural initiatives, she continues to promote international artistic exchange while encouraging broader appreciation of classical vocal music and contributing to Boston’s vibrant multicultural arts community.

Meijiao Yan is a classically trained soprano specializing in opera and classical vocal performance. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from the Lviv National Music Academy in Ukraine after completing her early professional music studies in China. Her performance career spans China, Ukraine, and the United States, where she has appeared as a featured soloist in concerts, opera productions, charitable performances, and international cultural exchange events.
